As part of strengthening our transport and logistics operations, we invite applications from suitably qualified, competent, safety-conscious, and motivated Tanzanians for the position of Heavy Truck Drivers.
Job Summary
RETOMINING Investment Limited is seeking to recruit competent, experienced, responsible, and safety-conscious Heavy Truck Drivers to support the company’s mining and aggregate haulage operations.
The Heavy Truck Drivers will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating company heavy vehicles to transport granite aggregates, raw materials, equipment, and other authorized items from quarrying and processing operations to designated locations, including customer delivery sites. Successful candidates must demonstrate exceptional driving skills, defensive driving habits, strong HSE commitment, and the physical capacity to operate in a demanding quarry environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Haulage & Vehicle Operation
- Safely operate assigned heavy trucks (such as tippers or dump trucks) in full compliance with company regulations, mine-site traffic rules, and Tanzanian road traffic laws.
- Transport granite aggregates and materials within the quarry, to stockpiles, processing plants, and external customer delivery destinations.
- Adhere to designated haulage routes, safe operating speeds, and approved reversing/tipping practices (using spotters/banksmen where necessary).
- Vehicle Inspections & Maintenance
- Perform mandatory daily pre-start and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking tires, brakes, steering, lighting, hydraulics, engine oil, coolant, and fuel levels.
- Ensure loads are correctly distributed within legal weight capacities.
- Keep assigned trucks clean and well-maintained; immediately report mechanical defects, abnormalities, or damage to the transport team.
- Follow scheduled servicing intervals and assist mechanics during preventive maintenance procedures when required.
- Record Keeping & Safety Compliance
- Maintain accurate driver logbooks, trip sheets, delivery receipts, mileage logs, and fuel records.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times within active mining zones and public transit routes.
- Participate actively in toolbox talks, safety briefings, driver training, and emergency drills.
- Immediately report all accidents, near misses, or road hazards to supervisors.
- Strictly enforce vehicle security: prevent unauthorized passengers from riding in or operating company trucks.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent.
- Licensing: Valid Tanzanian Heavy Vehicle Driving License appropriate to the vehicle class.
- Added Advantage: Valid Defensive Driving Certificate or advanced heavy-vehicle training.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience driving heavy trucks.
- Direct experience operating tipper trucks, dump trucks, or aggregate haulage trucks in mining, quarrying, construction, or logistics sectors is highly preferred.
- Terrain Capability: Proven track record of navigating unpaved roads, rough quarry terrain, mine-site access routes, and public highways.
- Language Proficiency: Good communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
- Work Schedule: Willingness and capability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when operational needs arise.

- Safe, disciplined, and defensive driving capabilities.
- Strong mechanical awareness for basic vehicle inspections and defect identification.
- Excellent spatial awareness, situational judgement, and attention to detail during loading/tipping.

- Strong commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental protocols.
