Background
Alliance Life Assurance Ltd was established in 2010 as the first privately owned Life Insurance Company in Tanzania. The company has spread its sphere of influence throughout the region to become one of the leading insurance and financial services companies in Tanzania providing life insurance solutions to both corporate and individuals.
We are seeking a skilled Life Policy Administrator who will be responsible for efficiently managing life policy administration and supporting underwriting activities. This role ensures smooth workflows, maintains high levels of customer satisfaction and contributes to the growth of business. The administrator will also mentor new interns and recruits while assisting management in various operational functions. The position will be based in Dar es Salaam.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Life Business Underwriting: Perform underwriting within established company parameters. Perform requisite risk quotations and determine appropriate policy terms and conditions. Liaise with intermediaries for business acquisition and policy services. Ensure policies comply with company standards and risk guidelines.
Policy Administration: Handle policy document preparation, issuance of cover notes and follow up on premium payments. Manage day-to-day client service inquiries, policy changes and amendments. Update and maintain policy registers with current information.
Participate in claims management and handling.
Data Management: Maintain and update life policy data with utmost confidentiality. Organize and maintain all life business documents in both soft and hard copies. Continuously update policy information in the system and extract reports as needed.
Medical Process Management: Maintain a reconciled database of issued medical letters, track reports and follow up on settlement of medical bills. Communicate underwriting decisions and manage medical related processes.
Reinsurance and Valuation Support: Calculate reinsurance premiums within standard timelines. Prepare and submit valuation data as required.
Commission Administration: Prepare commission payments to internal and external intermediaries.
Customer Service & Complaints Handling: Respond promptly to customer complaints and inquiries, ensuring they are resolved within service standards.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics or related field.
- Preferred Certification in CII (or progress toward certification).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in life insurance policy administration is required.
- Familiar with Insurance principles and practices in Tanzania is required.
- Computer literacy including MS Suite proficiency is required.

- Strong analytical and detailed-oriented aptitude with a high degree of accuracy and attention to details.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, report writing and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
