About the Role

United Bank for Africa (UBA) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Relationship Manager to oversee Public Sector and Institutional Banking. The ideal candidate will manage, grow, and deepen relationships with public sector entities and institutions, driving sustainable business growth in alignment with the Bank’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development

  • Drive client acquisition and management of existing Public Sector relationships to achieve quality business growth.
  • Maintain, acquire, and reactivate customer relationships to improve deposit liability growth and mix.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify and exploit growth opportunities.
  • Source and monitor deals within cash-rich government parastatals.
  • Drive synergy between EMDOs, Institutional Banking, and Public Sector teams.
  • Partner with Retail and Transaction Banking teams to mine value chain business opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor offerings.

2. Product Management

  • Provide strategic direction to product marketing teams for new initiatives and existing product sustainability.
  • Advise Country MD/CEO on emerging business opportunities and develop actionable growth strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product Development to design innovative solutions that meet changing customer needs.
  • Recommend viable, profitable risk assets to boost overall business profitability.

3. Strategy & Networking

  • Identify and cultivate new banking relationships with MDAs, NGOs, Embassies, and financial institutions.
  • Engage with high-ranking government officials to promote the Bank’s preferred status—within ethical standards.
  • Enhance client retention by serving as a one-stop contact for all client needs while providing world-class service.
  • Stay informed on local and international developments in trade and financing.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of approved team PBT targets.
  • Sustainable growth in business volume and wallet share across the assigned segments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • O’Level certificate with at least 5 credits, including Mathematics and English.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Relationship Management.
