Job Description:

  • Facilitate quality information generation from smallholder farmers on agroforestry practices and biodiversity conservation and restoration shared with policy and decision makers at local, national, regional and international levels.
  • Facilitate formation of strong platforms for advocating on smallholder farmers policies and concerns at local, national and regional levels and manage their operationalization.
  • Facilitate routine dialogue of the high-level platforms for policy and decision makers on issues related to agroforestry; food security; climate change adaptation, mitigation, resilience and conservation of biodiversity.
  • Engage policy and decision makers for integration of Agroforestry interventions into districts and sectoral plans and budgets.
  • To facilitate annual sectoral budget analysis and advocacy for responsible sectoral ministries, departments and district councils for Increased budget allocation for agroforestry practices and sustainable agriculture land management as stipulated in the International, regional and national strategies and conventions.
  • To facilitate analysis of Agroforestry sectoral policies, plans and strategies to generate evidence for advocacy purposes.
  • To capacitate and guide ASILI B technical and core partners on budget and policy advocacy engagements with policy and decision-makers.
  • To support smallholder farmers and partners in monitoring of public resource allocation and spending at council and community levels.
  • To facilitate development of policy briefs for communicating the policy evidence generated to various Agroforestry partners and stakeholders.
  • To prepare activity, quarterly and annual implementation reports.
  • To perform any other duties related to advancement of Agroforestry policy environment in Tanzania.

Qualification & Experience Required:

  • University Degree specifically form Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Agribusiness, Agriculture general, Forestry or any other related qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the areas of Governance, accountability, policy analysis, budget analysis and policy advocacy.
  • Experience in engagement with policy and decision makers, duty bearers and Government leaders at local and national levels.
  • Skills and strong competence in facilitation, training, moderation and organization.
  • Strong and good experience in report writing particularly policy and budget briefs.
  • Experience in working for Agriculture policies, farmers and local Government will be an added advantage.
  • Proven ICT skills and experience especially in the development of MIS software and tools for data collection and analysis;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
