Position Overview
The company is seeking a visionary and results-driven Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead its overall commercial strategy and revenue generation initiatives. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CCO will be responsible for overseeing the Sales, Distribution, Marketing, Business Development, Product Development, Business Conservation, Branding, Client Relationship Management, and Customer Experience functions to ensure sustainable growth across all business lines. This position requires a dynamic leader with proven experience in Retail, Commercial and Strategic roles within the life insurance or financial services sector.
The Chief Commercial Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be based in Dar es Salaam, with nationwide responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the company’s commercial strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
- Oversee the performance of all revenue-generating functions including Retail Corporate Bancassurance, Digital and Alternative Distribution Channels.
- Develop appropriate and relevant products for the various market segments.
- Develop and implement integrated marketing and sales plans to drive customer acquisition and retention.
- Champion digital transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing customer experience and broadening market reach.
- Foster strategic partnerships with banks, brokers, agents, and corporate clients to increase distribution and business penetration.
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive new product development and market positioning strategies.
- Drive the achievement of performance targets and ensure business growth and profitability.
- Provide strong leadership, coaching and development to sales and marketing teams across the country.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, and activities to refine strategies proactively.
- Minimum 10 years of commercial leadership experience in life insurance or financial services.
- Proven experience in leading and managing multiple business units across sales, marketing, and business development.
- Track record of delivering growth in revenues and customer base in a competitive market.
- At least 5 years’ experience in managing distribution teams across multiple locations.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, CRM systems, and data-driven marketing strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of business strategy, financial performance indicators, and customer engagement frameworks.
- Minimum qualification – Associate diploma from ACII UK, II India, or LOMA USA. An MBA or Master’s in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or Strategy; Degree from a recognized University will be an added advantage.
