A successful Cargo Supervisor ensures the safe and smooth handling of cargo throughout Cargo Operations by performing a multi-skilled role while utilizing the resources provided effectively. Tasks include, but are not limited to, documentation, customer service, acceptance, delivery, breakdown, build-up, equipment operation, transport, and coordination with government authorities.
Responsibilities or duties
- Ensure with the help of a Cargo team productivity targets in different sections such as Build up, Break down, documentation, courier, acceptance, delivery are achieved.
- Review load plans, identify special products requiring attention and ensure maximum utilisation of space within specified time norms without compromising on operational safety standards.
- Provide direction and guidance to on duty staff for any problems anticipated or faced in order to ensure load plan executed most efficiently.
- Review discrepancy reports, ensure corrective measure is implemented to eliminate repetition of the errors thereby minimising Company's liabilities. Provide feedback to staff as necessary in case of discrepancies.
- Plan and communicate requirements to build-up teams for Loading of Cargo products for carriage on assigned aircraft in accordance with priorities and volume/payload available, optimum utilisation of capacity.
- Supervise acceptance, handling and delivery of import, export and transfer cargo and documents to ensure adherence policies and procedures and facilitate optimum operating efficiency, service and product quality standards. Ensure optimum and effective use of resources keep check on OT levels of FTE staff.
- Monitor inbound and outbound cargo, courier, and special loads movement co-ordinate requirements with Key stakeholders ensuring smooth operations at the cargo Terminal.
- Collate and process data from various sources into appropriate database to ensure accuracy of information input in the systems. Ensure correct procedures and equipment deployed for acceptance, storage, handling and loading of dangerous goods and special loads for safety of aircraft, personnel and passenger.
- Effectively manage the PM Review process for reporting staff members, guide, motivate, ensure they are up skilled, provided with feedback on their performance, and promote awareness of company policies, operational and safety procedures.
- In conjunction with the Service Delivery Controller (Cargo Ops) and safety, promote a safety culture within the section to continuously raise awareness and motivate safe behaviours.
- Responsible for the health and safety duty of care at the workplace.
- Ensure to report any hazards, injuries, ill-health or near miss to your supervisor or employer.
