Job Purpose:

The Relationship Manager – Agribusiness & Co-operative Banking is responsible for managing and growing the Bank’s agricultural and co-operative portfolio.

The role focuses on strengthening agribusiness value chains, enhancing financial inclusion, and ensuring sound agronomic practices among clients and co-operative partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify economic activities and sectors with potential for agricultural finance growth and inclusion.
  • Monitor and evaluate agronomical practices to ensure productivity, sustainability, and risk management.
    • Conduct field inspections and follow up with smallholder farmers financed by the Bank, identifying both risks and growth opportunities.
    • Collect and analyze field data to support decision-making and provide insights on markets, products, and services in the agribusiness space.
  • Participate in relevant stakeholder meetings, representing the Bank in co-operative and agricultural forums.
  • Monitor scheme portfolio performance, including procurement, input distribution, application processes, and produce delivery.
  • Serve as a liaison between branches and head office on all agriculture value chain matters.
  • Conduct field verifications, prepare performance and impact reports, and identify areas for portfolio improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking, with exposure to agribusiness or co-operative sectors.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of agriculture value chains, business management, and customer relationship management.
  • Proven ability in sales, credit analysis, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) and familiarity with banking systems.
