Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Quality Assurance and TBS Compliance Officer to ensure the company’s products, services, and operational processes adhere to all standards set by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS). The successful candidate will manage the acquisition, maintenance, and renewal of all necessary TBS certifications, ensuring strict compliance with the Standards Act and mitigating regulatory risk for the business.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Company and the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS).
- Manage the full process for obtaining mandatory TBS certification marks for all company products and services.
- Prepare, submit, and track all applications and documentation required for new certifications and renewals.
- Coordinate and facilitate all product testing and factory inspections required by TBS for quality verification.
- Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure that all internal quality control procedures align with relevant TBS standards.
- Conduct internal audits and spot checks to verify that products consistently meet required specifications for certification.
- Advise management on necessary process improvements or product modifications to maintain compliance with evolving TBS regulations.
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized database of all TBS certifications, permits, and inspection reports.
- Ensure all certified products are correctly labeled and marked with the TBS logo.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on the company’s compliance status with TBS standards and highlight any potential risks.
- Monitor changes and updates to the Standards Act and specific TBS regulations that may impact the company’s operations or products.
- Attend relevant workshops or meetings organized by TBS to stay informed on compliance requirements.
Job Qualification and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable, hands-on experience specifically in managing TBS certification processes and quality assurance within a commercial setting in Tanzania.
- In-depth knowledge of the Tanzania Standards Act and the specific procedures and requirements of the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

- Prior experience in a manufacturing or import/export environment.
- Established professional relationships with TBS officials.
