To lead and manage the digital lending function by ensuring efficient credit assessment, risk management, portfolio growth, and quality performance of all digital credit products. The role oversees end-to-end digital credit processes, drives product innovation, enforces credit policies, optimizes decision models, and ensures robust performance of Credit Analysts – Digital Lending.

Responsibilities

Digital Credit Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and implement the bank’s digital lending strategy aligned with overall credit and business objectives.
  • Lead enhancements of digital loan products, features, pricing, eligibility criteria, and customer journeys.
  • Analyse market trends, customer behaviour, and competitor landscape to identify new digital lending opportunities.
  • Support portfolio growth targets, profitability, and customer acquisition strategies.

Credit Assessment & Risk Management

  • Oversee credit appraisal, automated scoring outputs, and decision-making processes for digital channels.
  • Ensure credit analysts follow standard credit evaluation frameworks for digital loans.
  • Review and approve digital credit recommendations based on delegated authority.
  • Monitor early warning indicators, delinquency trends, fraud patterns, and scorecard performance.
  • Recommend enhancement of algorithms, credit rules, and risk-based segmentation.

Portfolio Quality & Performance Management

  • Track portfolio performance including PAR, NPLs, charge-offs, roll rates, and recovery ratios for digital loans.
  • Conduct deep-dive analytics on customer cohorts, product segments, and behavioral trends.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve portfolio quality and loss mitigation strategies.
  • Lead periodic stress-testing and scenario analysis for digital lending portfolios.

Policy, Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure digital lending operations comply with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and technology standards.
  • Contribute to revision of credit policies, SOPs, underwriting guidelines, and digital credit limits.
  • Ensure data ethics, customer protection, and cybersecurity requirements are observed.
  • Coordinate with IT, Risk, Compliance, and Digital Banking teams for seamless governance.

People Management

  • Lead, supervise, coach, and appraise Credit Analysts – Digital Lending.
  • Build analytical capability within the team in areas such as data-driven credit evaluation, modelling interpretation, and digital trend analysis.
  • Foster a high-performance culture with emphasis on speed, accuracy, and innovation.

Reporting & Insights

  • Prepare and present periodic reports on portfolio performance, risk metrics, growth trends, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide insights to senior management on digital credit opportunities, emerging risks, and required interventions.
  • Oversee development of dashboards, MI reports, and analytics tools for digital lending.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with Digital Banking, IT, Data Science, Operations, Collections, and Product teams to optimize digital credit workflows.
  • Liaise with external partners, fintech’s, and data providers to enhance credit decisioning capabilities.
  • Represent the digital lending unit in internal committees and strategic forums.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Digital loan portfolio growth vs. target
  • PAR and NPL ratios for digital loan segments
  • Approval turnaround time (TAT)
  • Scorecard accuracy and decision quality

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Banking, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional qualification (CPA, CFA, CRB, Credit Certification) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in credit analysis, digital lending, or credit risk management.
  • Experience supervising credit teams and managing digital lending portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of digital scorecards, data analytics, machine learning-based decisioning, and credit automation tools.

  • Knowledge of digital lending models, fintech ecosystems, and APIs.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools (Excel, SQL, Python, BI dashboards—added advantage).
