INTRODUCTION
SHDEPHA+ is an acronym for Service, Health, and Development for People living with HIV/AIDS. It is a national Non-Governmental Organisation, registered on 21 November 1994 with registration number SO 8216 and certificate of compliance number 0738 of 2007 under Non-Governmental act No 24 of 2002. SHDEPHA+ originated from the initiatives of fifteen people living with HIV/AIDS whose goal was to scale up the welfare of people living positively with HIV/AIDS and to fight the spread of the disease.
SHDEPHA + Mpanda is a branch of SHDEPHA + Network of People Living Positively with HIV/AIDS based at Mpanda Municipal Council in Katavi region, it was established in 2002 as branch. Currently the organization is operating in five District councils of Katavi Region which includes; Mpanda Municipal council, Tanganyika District council, Nsimbo District council, Mlele District Council and Mpimbwe District council.
Since 2008 SHDEPHA+ Mpanda has been implementing HIV prevention, care and treatment services at community level in partnership with Henry Jackson Foundation Medical Research International, Inc.–Tanzania (HJFMRI-T) and close collaboration with Local Government authorities of Katavi region. The organization is undertaking the following activities; HIV prevention interventions, Community Based HIV testing services (CBHTS) and Community based HIV and AIDS Services (CBHS). The targeted population under this program is People living with HIV, Key and Vulnerable population and Priority Population.
SHDEPHA+ Mpanda is currently looking for a qualified candidates to fill the position below:
Job Title: HTS Counselor (1 Post)
Reports to: HTS Focal person.
Job Location: Katavi Region (Mlele DC)
Contract period: Twelve Months with possibility of renewal
Job Overview:
The HTS Counselor will play a role of Conducting HIV Testing and Counseling services at community level targeting Key and vulnerable populations, priority population and index contact in identified hotspots. The HTS Counselor will closely work with Health facilities, Peer educators and CBHS providers in providing HIV Testing and Counseling services at community level and linkage of HIV Positive clients for ART services to the health facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Should perform rapid HIV Testing and Counseling activities according to prescriptions and conditions set by the Ministry of Health, community development, gender, elderly and children (MoHCDGEC).
• Prepare and submit clear, detailed weekly and monthly reports to supervisor in a timely
• Ensure the Provision of quality HTC service to the community
• Refer individuals infected with HIV/AIDS to case management, medical care, support services and other services as needed and thoroughly follow-up on and document all referrals made;
• Provide accurate information to the community about HIV transmission, prevention and testing;
• Ensure all people tested positive are linked on Care and treatment.
• Develop strategies for strengthening referrals and linkages to healthcare facilities in target states to ensure the continuum of care for project beneficiaries.
• HIV Counselor has a responsibility to meet work plans & goals on time for the development and implementation of organization’s strategies
• Attend community and staff meetings, as scheduled;
• Perform other activities assigned by supervisor.
Requirements/Qualification.
• Should be holder of Diploma or Certificate in laboratory technologist, nursing or any other equivalent recognized by Ministry of health community development, gender, elderly and children.
• Should have at least 2 years of experience in HIV Testing and counselling services.
• Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required
• Excellent oral communication and writing skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team setting.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient’s information
• Able to conduct rapid HIV testing and counselling
• Should possess counselling skills
• Able to drive motor cycle (Driving license)
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
