Job Summary
The Construction Manager (Maximum Site Authority) is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities for renewable energy projects. This includes ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of works in accordance with project specifications, company policies, and industry standards. As the highest authority on site, the Construction Manager ensures effective coordination among contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and all project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
1. Site Leadership & Management
- Serve as the highest authority on site, making operational decisions to ensure efficient construction progress.
- Lead and supervise all site personnel, including contractors, subcontractors, and technical teams.
- Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and standards on site.
2. Project Planning & Execution
- Develop detailed construction plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
- Monitor and control site activities to meet project timelines, quality expectations, and budget targets.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to ensure alignment with technical specifications.
3. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to renewable energy construction.
- Promote a strong safety culture through regular inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Maintain high-quality standards through rigorous quality control measures.
4. Budget & Resource Management
- Oversee procurement and utilization of materials, equipment, and manpower.
- Manage site budgets, track expenditures, and report variances to the Project Director.
- Optimize resource allocation to enhance efficiency and minimize wastage.
5. Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit site reports, progress updates, and issue logs to senior management.
- Resolve on-site disputes and provide solutions to technical or operational challenges.
6. Technical Expertise
- Provide guidance on renewable energy construction methods (solar, wind, hydro, hybrid).
- Review technical drawings, design specifications, and engineering calculations for accuracy and feasibility.
- Recommend and implement improvements in construction processes and methodologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in power plant construction, including five (5) years specifically in PV plant construction of similar technology and capacity, with at least one plant ≥ 30% of the Project Size.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems (solar PV, wind, hydro, hybrid).
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction sites and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent understanding of HSE regulations.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
