Job Purpose
A successful candidate will be responsible for Safely and efficient maintenance, repair and installation of all Mechanical systems and Machinery within the packaging plant operations.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance of Machines mechanical equipment’s and material conveying systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance of overhead cranes
- Carries out planned plant machinery maintenance.
- Conduct daily checklist on all mechanical equipment’s.
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including gearbox, hydraulic power-park. conveyors, bucket elevator, overhead gantry crane and vibrating screen
- Ensure working tools are in good working condition and neat.
- Communicate to the status of spares and requirement for your section.
- Overhauls and refurbish mechanical parts (conveyor runner, gears, hydraulic cylinder etc.)
- Overhauls and repair mechatronic equipment (valve, actuator, cylinder etc)
- Conduct inspection of all machinery and plan for preventive maintenance
- Ensure proper lubrication of the machine moving parts.
- Maintain the stock level of mechanical critical spares
- Maintain the overhead cranes and hoist mechanically.
- Maintain and modify PFD and Machine drawing to improve the process.
- Report any breakdown feedback and status of machine to maintenance Engineer and Packing foreman
- 5s standards maintained and Food safety procedure adhered at station area.
- Continually work towards achieving maximum machine efficiency (the machine operating at its full capacity) and eliminate waste where possible.
- Ensures that all operations are carried out as per the ISO 9001/ISO 22000 to achieve quality and food safety standards.
- Contribute to problem solving during CI meetings by identifying areas for improvement and making suggestions.
- Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
- Ensure that work is done to the relevant safety standards.
- If any situation that is non- conforming to required standards, unsafe, or unhealthy, or anything that threatens to impact on the environment comes to your attention, report this to your superior.
- Adhere to Illovo values (Accountability, empowerment, integrity, commitment, and inclusiveness).
Qualifications And Experience
- Diploma in Mechatronics/ Mechanical / NTA level 6 in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institution or relevant qualifications.
- Proven Extensive knowledge in Mechanical systems/equipment maintenance, Material Conveying systems, Hydraulic circuits reading and interpreting Mechanical Drawing, and defect rectification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience
Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on Permanent Contract.
