Position Summary

Barrick Tanzania is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Senior Exploration Geologist to lead advanced-stage and near-mine exploration programs. The role focuses on resource growth, target generation, and brownfields/Greenfields exploration across Barrick’s Tanzanian operations. The successful candidate will provide strong technical leadership, oversee drilling campaigns, and ensure high-quality geological interpretation and reporting in line with international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of exploration programs, including mapping, geochemical sampling, trenching, and drilling (RC and diamond).
  • Develop and refine geological models for structurally controlled, VMS, intrusion-related gold systems, ….
  • Interpret geological, structural, geochemical, and geophysical data to generate drill-ready targets.
  • Supervise core logging, sampling, and QA/QC procedures to ensure data integrity.
  • Manage drilling contractors and ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and safety standards.
  • Contribute to Mineral Resource estimations in compliance with NI 43-101 standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and exploration updates for management review.
  • Mentor and supervise junior geologists and technicians.
  • Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and community relations policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (master’s degree preferred).
  • 8–12+ years of mineral exploration experience, with strong exposure to gold systems.
  • Proven experience in leading drilling programs and resource delineation.
  • Strong structural geology and alteration mapping skills.
  • Experience working in Archean Greenstone Terranes (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Leapfrog, Micromine, ArcGIS, and database management systems.
  • Membership or eligibility for professional registration (e.g., Geologist registration body).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
