Job Description:
AHN is looking for an exceptional leader to join the company as the Head of Biomedical Engineering (BME). This professional should have experience managing a BME team, focusing on equipment maintenance and conservation, hospital water control and treatment, as well as technical support.
This leader will be responsible for ensuring proper installation, maintenance, and operation of all medical equipment and machines across AHN’s facilities. This includes coordinating and evaluating the services provided by contracted companies, as well as monitoring project execution to ensure that timelines and budgets are met, with high quality output at all times.
To be successful, the Head of BME must have strong knowledge of all applicable regulatory rules and guidelines, in compliance with health legislation. This leader is responsible for developing policies, standards, and procedures related to the biomedical sector across AHN countries.
Finally, this leader will manage and develop the BME teams, understanding the needs for new hires and ensuring they are well-trained and on-boarded into AHN.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage processes and people with a focus on results in the biomedical engineering area across the countries where AHN develops services;
- Monitor outsourcing contracts, observing compliance with agreed services, ensuring the execution of contracted services, as well as monitoring the execution of services by contracted companies;
- Provide guidance on technical specifications of materials, equipment and services, as well as analytical budgets related to projects, maintenance, installations and renovations;
- Ensure the management of the activities of the Biomedical Engineering team, contributing to improving the efficiency and solutions of projects and works, through the provision of specialized support in the areas of engineering;
- Assist in contracting services and evaluate technical proposals for the acquisition of materials and services in accordance with Biomed’s specifications;
- Guide, supervise and ensure the correct use and archiving of project documents and technical documentation of the biomedical sector;
- Control and monitor inventory and assets.
- Plan, organize and control the physical, material and financial resources for the development of their duties, as well as plan and control the quality of products and services generated by the area;
- Discuss maintenance concerns with the employer and communicate them to Maintenance Workers;
- Conduct on-site inspections and identify areas that require additional maintenance work;
- Develop maintenance procedures and ensure their implementation;
- Contribute to the strategic planning and budget compliance of your area, as well as the consistency and reliability of the information provided by the area, monitoring and controlling the expenses incurred and timely recommendations on how to correct deviations;
- Maintain the qualification and performance of the work team, identifying training and development needs, promotion, transfer, hiring/replacement, etc., as well as promoting performance management and feedback, interacting with the team in the application of policies, seeking a motivating environment for its employees;
- Disseminate the mission, vision, values and work philosophy of the company, through communication and engagement of leaders and teams, highlighting issues related to discipline, respect for hierarchy, ethics and professionalism, ensuring the alignment of people with current guidelines;
- Comply with and enforce the Institution’s Mission and Strategic Vision, internal standards, compliance requirements and quality management systems, compliance with local health regulations and standards and procedures.
Desired Competencies:
- Degree in biomedical engineering, biomedical science, mechanical/ electrical engineering or related
- At least 2 years of technical knowledge with 5 years at management level
- Experience working in the healthcare sector an added advantage
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience building and maintaining customer and supplier relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills
- Possess the following skills: people management, leadership, negotiation, data analysis, project management.
