Description Fintrac, a leading US-based agriculture-consulting firm with long-term programs in Africa, Asia and Central America, is seeking the Zone Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the 4-year project; Feed the Future Tanzania Mboga na Matunda. Location: Zanzibar Responsibilities: The Zone M&E Specialist will be based at the Zanzibar Office and reports to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager. In addition to the specific tasks stated below, (s)he is expected to contribute fully as a program team member, conducting him/herself in a proper manner at all times as a representative of the program, and is responsible for the safe-keeping and care of all program assets assigned to him/her. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Responsibility for the efficient and professional collection of M&E data related to the project for his/her assigned zone. This includes the baseline and results surveys as well as any ad hoc survey that may arise • Working closely with the project’s zonal field team to ensure that they fulfil their M&E responsibilities. This requires proper training and on-going support of these staff. The Specialist should ensure that the field staff are regularly inputting required data into CIRIS (and submitting hard copy forms to the zonal office). • Ensure accurate and timely entry of zonal data into CIRIS (Fintrac’s M&E data collection system) and project excel files as needed. This may require managing data entry clerks to ensure accuracy. • Ensure the overall quality control of data information in his/her zone (including correct beneficiary names, ID numbers, location details, GPS coordinates etc.) Again, this may require managing data entry clerks to ensure accuracy. • Review zonal project data and work with field managers to rectify data gaps or inconsistencies and follow up with field staff and partners to correct these issues. • Keep and file all zonal M&E documents (both hard copy and electronic files). These have to be well organized and easily referenced by the M&E Manager, the Technical Partners Director, DCOP and COP. • Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and completeness of the M&E files. • Support Partner M&E Specialists as needed, liaising with the M&E Manager and the Technical Partners Director. • Prepare M&E reports on activities in his/her zone, including performance of field staff for project management purposes. • In the case that 3rd party M&E contractors are used, the Specialist will be asked to help supervise and manage their work in the field. There may also be some need for collaboration and assistance. This should be given in a professional and efficient manner. • Any other relevant duties that may be assigned by the M&E Manager Qualifications and Requirements • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics or Financial Analysis or Master’s degree in Statistics/Financial Analysis with an emphasis on Impact Evaluation and Reporting(Preferred). • Minimum of 4 Years’ experience • In-depth knowledge of MS Excel, Power Point, Word, Database and Statistical programs. • Flexibility and capacity to manage multiple tasks and work on a team Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. English teachers should be well-grounded in classroom management and school procedures. • Create core English curriculum and determine manners of implementing it at different levels
• Design and develop lesson plans according to each student’s individual ability to understand concepts
• Instruct and motivate students in the course of study, paying special attention to slow learners
• Assign homework and classwork and assist students in understanding different ways of working out assignments
• Maintain classrooms that are conducive to learning and intellectual stimulation
• Oversee development and design of teaching aides and provide teaching assistants with assistance in developing them properly
• Prepare and administer tests according to the set curriculum and grade exams and tests in accordance to designated grading rules
• Compliment students on their achievements as part of the class encouragement program and encourage those who are unable to meet performance standards
• Provide extra help in learning concepts to students lacking understanding of them
• Evaluate students individually, carefully charting out their weaknesses and provide them with extra help where required
• Maintain student behavior by putting down ground rules and ensuring that they are properly followed
• Meet with parents to provide them with overviews of their children’s progress
• Create, maintain and record assessment reports in a confidential manner
teachers must handle a class of students who may not speak the same language, which is an element that sets these teachers apart from foreign language teachers. As a result, it can be difficult for the teacher to offer instruction in a single language. teachers must frequently explain things through the use of pictures, gestures and demonstrations. The goal of a teacher is to have their students gain the same English proficiency as native speakers.
