Background information about the job or company

To support the bank’s IT operations by managing all ICT-related functions, including core banking applications and associated databases. The role ensures smooth system operations, timely issue resolution, and effective coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities or duties

1. Core Banking EOD/EOM/EOY

  • Perform Core Banking / Treasury End-of-Day, End-of-Month, and End-of-Year processes.
  • Update and maintain the EOD activity log daily, documenting all issues encountered for review by the systems administrator.
  • Generate daily and monthly system reports, including mandatory end-of-day reports.

2. System Management

  • Coordinate with application vendors for timely resolution of system issues (vendor ticket management).
  • Monitor and follow up on application server health as communicated by Helpdesk.
  • Provide support for business and operational application systems.
  • Ensure all system changes are properly documented, UAT is completed and signed off, and requests are logged in the service desk for approval.
  • Provide monthly Service Desk change reports.
  • Ensure all reported incidents are attended to within agreed timelines (SLA compliance) and share daily service desk reports with the ICT team.

3. User Management (Application/OS/Database)

  • Create, modify, review, disable, or delete users across applications, operating systems, and databases.
  • Work with HR and relevant units to ensure timely deactivation of users when access is no longer required.
  • Maintain properly filled and approved user access forms as a custodian.
  • Perform monthly user access reviews and share reports with the systems administrator.
  • Act as custodian for all generic accounts and ensure proper documentation.

4. Operations

  • Respond promptly to queries from branches, departments, and units regarding application-related issues.
  • Generate daily operational and business-required application system reports.
  • Ensure all business-supporting applications are up and running.
  • Participate in application-related project meetings.

5. IT Risk Management

  • Identify emerging risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Ensure timely resolution or escalation of application-related security matters to vendors or the ISO.
  • Promote the effective use of risk management tools.
  • Ensure proper application system change management processes are followed.
  • Document all application-related incidents under the bank’s incident reporting framework.
  • Drive remediation of exceptions identified during audits or risk reviews and promote a strong risk culture across ICT.

Qualifications or requirements

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Hands-on experience with Core Banking Systems, particularly Finacle CBS v10.xxx.
  • Database administration knowledge and experience.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix Shell Scripting.
  • Competence in process automation and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience needed

Working Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supporting banking applications & IT support roles.
