Role Purpose

The Training Specialist will lead the design of high-quality, contextually relevant and linguistically accessible training resources for the project. The post-holder will apply participatory adult-learning methods and Training of Trainers methodology to produce Kiswahili and English manuals, visual aids and toolkits tailored to the varying literacy levels of women’s groups in the target districts.

Accountabilities

• Lead the development and updating of the dual-track training curriculum, comprising individual enterprise modules and group institutional modules.
• Audit and adapt existing training resources from key stakeholders to ensure alignment with national standards and avoid duplication.
• Ensure all materials are contextually relevant, linguistically accessible in professional Kiswahili and English, and technically aligned with climate-smart and digital financial content.
• Design and develop the Training of Trainers (ToT) manual and programme for Ministry Staff and District Focal Points.
• Develop visual aids, participatory tools and accessible formats suitable for low-literacy participants and participants with disabilities.
• Apply the feedback loop between phases to update training manuals based on real-world field experience.

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Essential

• Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or Communications.
• Proven track record in developing Kiswahili training manuals, visual aids, and participatory adult-learning tools.
• Expertise in Training of Trainers (ToT) methodology.
• Proven experience with at least two (2) comparable consultancies using Participatory Adult Learning (PAL) techniques, tailored for rural women’s groups with varying literacy levels in a similar socio-economic environment.

Desirable

• Experience developing accessible and disability-inclusive training formats.
• Working proficiency in Kiswahili.
• Strong English writing and presentation skills
• Experience designing materials for coastal or Zanzibar community contexts.
• Computer literacy and curriculum development software is an added advantage
