Job Purpose

The Strategy Manager: Corporate Investments is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and evaluating strategic growth opportunities, including potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. The individual will work closely with the Senior Manager Corporate Development and other key stakeholders within the organization (including cross-functional teams) and externally to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive growth and create sustainable value for the company.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate strategic growth opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to assess market and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corporate investment initiatives that align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Support the overall transaction process for potential M&A opportunities, including identification and qualification of opportunity(ies), due diligence, valuation, and deal structuring, working in close collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Prepare and present analyses and strategic recommendations to respective key stakeholders, including for Management and Board, to support effective decision-making.
  • Provide strategic support to existing corporate investments to drive strong value creation aligned to Strategic aspirations.
  • Stay informed of industry developments and trends and incorporate them into the company’s strategy as appropriate.
  • Support Senior Manager Corporate Development in managing, developing, and mentoring a team of corporate development professionals.

Qualifications Required

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in banking, Finance or Accounting in the areas of transaction advisory, investment analysis, corporate finance, management consulting, or a closely related field.
  • Understanding of the Financial Regulatory environment and experience and knowledge of banking sector in East Africa.
  • Experience in investment appraisals, valuation, deal analysis, research, financial modelling.
  • Strong technical acumen in areas including financial analysis and investment evaluation, modelling, valuations, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and industry standards
  • Solid presentation skills and well-rounded interpersonal skill set, with the capacity to build strong senior relationships.
