Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for Maintenance of Machines and machine parts during off crop and crushing season.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure all electrical work follow safety standards (LOTO, Wearing PPE, Grounding/Earthing is correct, preventing fire hazard related to electricity).
• Ensure safe and standard installation of electrical equipment such as motors, panels, switches, VSDs, all motor starters and lighting system
• Carry out routine inspection of motors, MCCs, control panels, cable condition (Connection and insulation).
• Carry out testing of protection devices (overload trips, fuses, MCCB and ELCB).
• Ensure cleaning and tightening of electrical circuit terminal is done correctly.
• Respond to Electrical breakdowns to minimize plant downtime during season crushing if needed.
• Ensure safe fault tracing in electrical circuits by reading design drawings.
• Reporting breakdown causes and corrective actions
• Ensure electrical drawing is updated after any modification in Circuit.
• Able to work with other discipline to make plant reliable
• Carry out inspections according to checklist, make spot repairs where necessary and report all findings at daily meeting.
• Repairs any defective electrical machine during crushing and off crop
• Monitor the performance of the electrical equipment.
• Supervises power generation by inspecting TAs, Transformers
• Effective communication with others.
• Inspects machine condition and safety before start up.

Job Requirements:

• At least bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized Institution.
• At least 1-2+years’ experience working in electrical jobs in manufacturing industry
• Computer knowledge will be added advantage
• Extensive knowledge in electrical machinery, Motor starters.
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Good understanding of industrial safety practice
• Mentally and physically fit
• Ability to work under pressure and long hours during breakdown
• Attention to details.
