Job Summary

CNS Group is seeking a highly analytical and driven Research and Advisory Associate for a growing investment advisory and capital markets firm in Dar es Salaam. The role is responsible for conducting financial research, investment analysis, business valuation, and producing high quality advisory reports that support client engagements across securities brokerage, fund management, and corporate finance functions. The ideal candidate should possess strong financial modeling and research skills, relevant professional qualifications, and a genuine passion for shaping the future of finance and capital markets in Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in depth investment research, financial analysis, and market intelligence on listed and unlisted securities, industries, and macroeconomic trends to support client advisory and fund management decisions.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for business valuation, investment appraisal, portfolio analysis, and corporate finance transactions in line with industry best practices and client requirements.
  • Prepare high quality research reports, investment memoranda, advisory presentations, and client deliverables that clearly communicate findings, recommendations, and investment insights.
  • Support corporate finance advisory engagements including capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, business restructuring, and financial due diligence processes for corporate and institutional clients.
  • Monitor capital markets developments, regulatory updates, and economic indicators relevant to the Tanzanian and regional investment landscape, providing timely insights to management and clients.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of investment proposals, pitch decks, and client presentations for fund management and securities brokerage engagements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of databases, financial models, and research tools to enhance the firm's research and advisory capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with senior advisors and management to deliver integrated financial solutions tailored to individual and institutional client objectives across all service lines.
  • Ensure all research, advisory outputs, and client engagements comply with CMSA regulations, DSE requirements, and applicable capital markets laws and standards.
  • Participate actively in business development activities, client meetings, and industry forums to support the firm's growth and market positioning within Tanzania's capital markets ecosystem.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA Level I (minimum), FMVA, CPA, ACCA, CISI, or related certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in investment, finance, research, valuation, corporate finance, or advisory roles is preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling, business valuation, and investment analysis skills are preferred.
  • Excellent research and report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, structured, and insightful financial and advisory documents is preferred.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, securities regulations, and the Tanzanian investment landscape including DSE and CMSA frameworks is recommended.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements simultaneously, and deliver high quality outputs within tight deadlines is recommended.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills with a high level of attention to detail is recommended.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial analysis tools is recommended.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to engage confidently with clients and stakeholders is recommended.
