Background
As a Relationship Manager for Global Subsidiaries at Standard Chartered Tanzania, you will play a pivotal role in forging and nurturing strong partnerships with multinational corporate clients. This role requires you to apply extensive industry expertise and a profound understanding of complex financial landscapes to craft bespoke solutions that meet clients' strategic ambitions and financial needs.
You will operate at the nexus of client engagement and internal collaboration, partnering with Global Account Managers (GAM), Regional Account Managers (RAM), and product specialists to deliver integrated financial products and services. Your strategic vigilance will enable you to identify and cultivate new business avenues while managing risks prudently to uphold the Bank's regulatory and ethical standards.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional commercial insight, resilience in high-pressure environments, and an aptitude for guiding clients through evolving market challenges, supporting both their growth and Standard Chartered’s vision of sustainable banking.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Client Management and Strategic Sales:
- Take ownership of a portfolio of global subsidiaries, acting as the principal contact to provide tailored financial advice and solutions.
- Lead the negotiation and closure of multifaceted financial deals, effectively managing all stages of Request for Proposals and coordinating multi-disciplinary sales efforts.
- Devise and implement client-focused strategies to seize cross-border business potential, ensuring an integrated and seamless banking experience.
- Monitor industry trends and client financial positions to proactively anticipate needs and offer strategic insights.
Leveraging Data And Advanced Technologies
- Harness the capabilities of customer relationship management systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365 to gather and analyse client data for enhanced service delivery.
- Integrate non-traditional data streams such as social media analytics to deepen client understanding and identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Stay abreast of innovations in fintech including blockchain and crypto-assets to provide informed guidance on risk and utility.
Risk Control, Compliance And Governance
- Ensure diligent management of credit, operational, regulatory and reputational risk in alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Conduct periodic reviews and enhanced due diligence on client portfolios to mitigate risks related to financial crime, fraud, compliance non-adherence and sustainability factors.
- Serve as a resource for clients and internal teams on evolving regulatory frameworks, facilitating compliance and control effectiveness.
Delivering Financial Performance And Portfolio Growth
- Drive achievement of financial objectives including revenue targets, profitability and Return on Risk-Weighted Assets(RoRWA).
- Deepen sector-specific and sustainable finance knowledge to foster client development and bank profitability.
- Collaborate with internal partners across product lines to ensure delivery excellence and continuous innovation.
Skills And Experience
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic client relationships through bespoke advice and identifying growth opportunities aligned with client goals.
- Deep understanding of financial services, banking operations, financial markets, and sector dynamics driving informed strategic decision-making.
- Strong analytical capability to interpret complex financial statements, market data and emerging client behaviours, utilising technology platforms to deliver intelligence-driven solutions.
- Sound expertise in Financial Markets products and Transaction Banking solutions enabling the design of comprehensive client strategies.
- Familiarity with current fintech developments including blockchain, digital banking trends and their implications for client advisories.
- Well-versed in managing credit and operational risks, maintaining regulatory compliance and implementing sustainable finance initiatives.
- Skilled in applying behavioural data analytics to enhance client experiences and long-term retention strategies.
