Job Description:
Department: Workshop
Reports To: Workshop Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Motor Store In-Charge / Parts Assistant Clerk will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining accurate records of spare parts, lubricants, tools, and other workshop materials. The role will support efficient maintenance operations by ensuring required parts are properly controlled, available, and issued to authorized workshop personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, record, and properly store workshop spare parts, lubricants, tools, and consumables.
- Issue spare parts and materials against approved requests and maintain accurate issuance records.
- Maintain updated stock cards, inventory records, and supporting store documentation.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile actual stock against records.
- Monitor stock levels and report low-stock, damaged, obsolete, or missing items.
- Organize and label store items for easy identification and retrieval.
- Maintain records of parts issued against specific tractors, vehicles, and heavy machinery.
- Coordinate with workshop personnel on spare-parts requirements and availability.
- Maintain good housekeeping, security, and safety standards within the motor store.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certificate or Diploma in Procurement & Supplies Management, Stores Management, Logistics, Automotive/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in spare-parts stores, inventory control, automotive stores, or a workshop environment.
- Good knowledge of automotive, tractor, or heavy-equipment spare parts is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of stock receiving, issuing, stocktaking, and inventory reconciliation.
- Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and basic inventory systems.
- Strong record-keeping, numerical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- High level of integrity and accountability in handling workshop inventory.
- Experience in an agricultural, automotive, construction, or heavy-equipment environment will be an added advantage.
