Position Description
The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a Hydrogeologist to support both underground and open-pit operations at North Mara Gold Mine.

Responsibilities
- Conduct groundwater investigations across underground and open-pit operations, including drilling supervision, aquifer testing, and piezometer installation.
- Develop and maintain hydrogeological models to support dewatering strategies, water balance forecasting, and risk assessments.
- Monitor and interpret groundwater inflow trends, pore pressure data, and water quality parameters to inform operational decisions.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, mine planning, and environmental teams to ensure integrated water management.
- Advise on water-related hazards, including breakthrough risk, fill saturation, and slope instability linked to groundwater.
- Maintain and update the Groundwater Management Plan (GWMP) in line with site standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support emergency response planning for water-related incidents.
- Train and mentor junior staff in hydrogeological monitoring and data interpretation.
- Liaise with consultants and regulatory bodies on groundwater compliance and permitting.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Postgraduate specialization in groundwater modeling or mine water management is an advantage.
Experience and Competencies Needed
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mining hydrogeology, preferably in both underground and open-pit environments.
- Proficiency in groundwater modeling software (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, etc.) and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with instrumentation such as piezometers, VWPs, and water level loggers.
- Strong understanding of mine dewatering systems and water risk mitigation.
- Valid driving license and ability to work in underground conditions.
- Must have sufficient communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
