Position Summary
The Hospital Patron is a senior nursing leadership position responsible for overseeing nursing services, patient care standards, nursing discipline, patient experience, and coordination of nursing operations throughout the hospital. The successful candidate will provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to nursing staff while ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, efficient, and high-quality healthcare services.
The Hospital Patron will serve as a key link between patients, nursing teams, clinicians, and hospital management in promoting excellence in patient care and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Nursing Leadership and Supervision
- Provide overall leadership and supervision of nursing services across all hospital departments.
- Ensure compliance with nursing standards, policies, procedures, and professional ethics.
- Monitor nursing performance and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Support, mentor, and guide nursing staff to achieve excellence in patient care.
- Promote professionalism, accountability, and discipline among nursing personnel.
2. Patient Care and Quality Assurance
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and coordinate initiatives to improve patient experience.
- Investigate and address patient complaints, concerns, and service gaps.
- Conduct regular patient care rounds and assessments of nursing services.
- Participate in quality assurance, infection prevention, and patient safety programs.
3. Operational Management
- Coordinate nursing staffing requirements and deployment to ensure adequate coverage.
- Monitor adherence to hospital Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in policy development and implementation related to nursing services.
- Prepare and submit nursing performance and patient care reports to management.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
4. Patient Advocacy and Customer Experience
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families.
- Promote a culture of dignity, compassion, and respect in patient care.
- Ensure timely resolution of patient concerns and complaints.
- Strengthen communication between patients, nursing teams, and hospital management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or Diploma qualification from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and practicing license from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
- A postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management, Health Services Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of five (5) years' progressive nursing experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in hospital nursing management and patient care coordination.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili.
- Computer literacy and ability to prepare reports and presentations.
