About the Role
Imperium Opes Group Ltd is seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer to join our QHSE team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace by implementing the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, ensuring compliance with legal and client requirements, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Implementing and maintaining the Company's HSE Management System in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Conducting workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and recommending appropriate control measures.
- Investigating accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and ensuring corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented.
- Coordinating HSE induction training, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and safety awareness programs.
- Administering the Permit-to-Work system, including permits for hot work, electrical work, confined space entry, working at heights, and excavation activities.
- Monitoring the availability, issuance, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Promoting environmental compliance through effective waste management, spill prevention, and hazardous material handling.
- Supporting emergency preparedness activities, including fire safety inspections and evacuation drills.
- Ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health legislation, environmental regulations, client requirements, and Company procedures.
- Maintaining accurate HSE documentation, reports, records, and statistics.
- Monitoring contractor and visitor compliance with HSE requirements.
- Conducting vehicle safety inspections and promoting safe driving practices.
- Supporting continual improvement initiatives within the Company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A recognized professional HSE certification is mandatory. Applicants must possess at least one of the following (or an equivalent qualification): NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, or another internationally recognized HSE certification.
- Training in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2–3 years' relevant experience in Health, Safety and Environment.
- Experience in logistics, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial operations is highly desirable.
- Experience working with Integrated Management Systems (IMS) will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Sound knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Strong incident investigation and risk assessment skills.
- Excellent report writing and documentation abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct training and safety awareness programs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
