The Head of Secondary provides strategic leadership and operational management for the secondary school section, ensuring academic excellence, student welfare, and staff development.
Responsibilities or duties
Academic Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership for the secondary school, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and strategic goals .
- Oversee the implementation of the curriculum (national or Cambridge) across all subjects and year groups .
- Monitor teaching and learning quality through lesson observations, work scrutiny, and data analysis, driving continuous improvement .
- Lead curriculum development and ensure the delivery of effective assessment practices .
- Ensure students are well-prepared for public examinations (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE, A-Level) and achieve strong outcomes .
Staff Management & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the secondary teaching and non-teaching staff .
- Coordinate the recruitment, induction, and professional development of secondary staff .
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback to support staff growth .
- Foster a positive and collaborative staff culture .
- Oversee the deployment and workload management of staff .
