Overview

The Head of People is responsible for leading the organization's people strategy, ensuring alignment between business objectives and workforce needs. The role oversees talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and HR compliance. Acting as a strategic partner to the leadership team, the Head of People drives a high performance culture, enhances employee experience, and supports organizational growth and transformation.

Role Responsibilities

As Head of People, you will be able to:

  • Developing and implementing the Company’s people strategy, systems, procedures, and policies
  • Coordinating People functions
  • Maintaining an oversight role on employee recruitment, selection, and placement
  • Developing remuneration and reward packages and procedures
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating application of performance management system
  • Keeping the Managing Director informed on People issues and changes within and outside the Company
  • Spearheading healthy industrial relations
  • Leading the Company’s efforts in staff training, learning and development
  • Designing and implementing strategies for improving management / employee communications
  • Leading implementation of the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and provisions of the Employment and Labour Relations Act
  • Ensuring compliance with all laws relating to people and employment matters
  • Undertaking assignments assigned by Managing Director.

Requirements for the Role

To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Psychology, Business Administration, or Industrial Relations Professional qualifications (CIPD, SHRM,HRCI,CHRP or equivalent) is advantage.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management (HRM).
  • At least 10 years working experience in the same role in a reputable Company, 3 of which must be in a senior people role.

  • Strategic People Leadership – Ability to develop and execute a People/HR strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Business & Commercial Acumen – Understands business priorities and translates them into practical workforce and talent solutions.
  • Leadership & Influencing – Able to influence executives, coach senior leaders, and build credibility across all organizational levels.
  • Talent & Succession Management – Strong capability in talent identification, succession planning, career development, and leadership pipelines.
  • Organizational Development – Skilled in organization design, workforce planning, capability building, and improving organizational effectiveness.
  • Change Management – Able to lead the people aspects of restructuring, transformation, growth, and other significant organizational changes.
