Job Summary:
The Head Mechanic acts as the lead technical expert and team leader on the workshop floor. They are responsible for performing complex repairs, guiding other mechanics, and ensuring the workflow is executed efficiently as directed by the Workshop Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise: Perform advanced diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on a wide range of vehicles.
- Team Supervision: Provide technical guidance, support, and on-the-job training to junior mechanics and apprentices. Oversee the day-to-day activities on the shop floor.
- Quality Assurance: Verify the quality of repairs performed by the team before the final manager inspection.
- Workflow Coordination: Assist the manager in allocating jobs, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow to meet deadlines.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all workshop tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an automotive mechanic.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and electronics.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., ASE, NVQ) are required.
- A valid driver's license.
