Humavalue Consulting Limited is seeking a General Manager for Agricultural Operations & Export Value-Chain. This role is crucial for overseeing and developing the company's agricultural business unit, with a focus on value-added processing and global export strategies. Candidates may be based in Tanzania or internationally. Agricultural professionals with substantial experience in India, Nepal, or other Asian countries are especially encouraged to apply, particularly those with backgrounds in large-scale commercial farming, agro-processing, value addition, agricultural exports, and agribusiness operations.

Responsibilities or duties

Supervise the construction, installation, and commissioning of value-add agro-processing plants. Oversee avocado cultivation and premium wine production operations. Manage cashew nuts, legumes and peanuts production portfolios. Oversee modern honey production systems. Establish standard operating procedures across planting, harvesting, cold-chain and manufacturing operations. Architect and lead global export strategies. Secure high-value off-take agreements across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Ensure compliance with phytosanitary, traceability and international retail standards. Manage cross-border logistics, cold-chain integrity and export clearing procedures. Build and recruit a high-performing agricultural operations team. Work closely with Human Resources on workforce planning and localization initiatives. Manage capital expenditure and operational expenditure budgets. Implement climate, crop disease, pest and biosecurity risk mitigation frameworks. Maintain full P&L accountability for the agricultural business unit.

Qualifications or requirements 

Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Agribusiness, Food Science or a related field. MBA or postgraduate business qualification is highly preferred. 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial farming, agro-processing or global agribusiness. African or East African agricultural experience preferred. Proven track record in value-add processing projects. Proven experience executing international export trade contracts. Experience with tree crops including avocados and cashews. Exposure to legumes, peanuts, honey production or wine production.
