Job Summary

Our client in the Agribusiness industry is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to support material handling, warehousing, and operational activities at its facility in Kigoma. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to move grains, finished products, and other materials, supporting loading and offloading activities, maintaining proper product organization, and ensuring efficient and safe movement of goods within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the forklift safely to move goods, grains, materials, and other items within the site.
  • Load and offload trucks safely and efficiently and arrange products correctly within designated storage areas.
  • Carry out daily pre-start inspections of the forklift and report any mechanical faults, damage, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensure goods are properly stacked and organized to maximize storage space and prevent product damage.
  • Support stock movement, material handling, and loading activities as directed by the supervisor.
  • Verify that loads are stable and within the forklift’s safe operating capacity before lifting or transporting them.
  • Maintain safe movement around pedestrians, vehicles, machinery, storage areas, and other workplace activities.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures while operating the forklift to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain basic operating records and report equipment issues or maintenance requirements when necessary.
  • Keep the forklift clean, properly maintained, and safely parked in the designated area after use.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid forklift operating licence or certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience operating a forklift, preferably within an agribusiness, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, food processing, or similar operational environment.
  • Certificate or relevant vocational training in Forklift Operations, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, Material Handling, Mechanical Operations, or other related field will be an added advantage.
  • Practical experience in loading, offloading, stacking, and movement of goods and materials.
  • Good knowledge of forklift operating procedures and safe load-handling practices.
  • Ability to conduct routine pre-operation forklift inspections and identify basic equipment faults.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in an active warehouse and production environment.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing duties associated with material handling operations.
  • Responsible, safety-conscious, disciplined, and able to follow instructions.
  • Good teamwork and basic communication skills.
