Position Description

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Fitter Technician to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Scamont pumps, Warman pumps, mono-pumps, conveyor belts, and rock breakers;
  • Control the PH by operating the lime dosing system safely in accordance with Bulyanhulu procedures;
  • Efficiently and effectively perform mechanical maintenance activities in accordance with regulations as required by the shaft maintenance controls and to ensure compliance at all times; ammonia plant
  • Analyzing the blueprints for mechanical systems to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed.
  • Follow up with mining construction, operation, electrical, and engineering teams on ventilation-related tasks.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as you may be required by the Technical Services Department from time to time
  • Analyzing the blueprints for mechanical systems to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed.
  • Constructing structural components from raw materials.
  • Using welding equipment to fuse structural components.
  • Inspecting fabricated components to ensure that they are the correct size.
  • Utilizing shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives to cut structural components as needed.
  • Creating a suitable maintenance schedule and performing system maintenance accordingly.
  • Conducting diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction.
  • Replacing damaged or defective structural components as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with defensive driving skills
  • Ordinary secondary education (Form IV)
  • Basic knowledge of U/G paste systems, mine rescue, and valid First Aid certificates will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience in an underground mining operation
  • I must have detailed knowledge and experience in the operation of multiple metal cutting, welding, and fabrication methods.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication in English, both writing and verbal
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment
  • Mine health & Safety Act awareness
  • Must have a good understanding of underground mining operations and solid safety performance at the personal and professional level
  • Must be able to read and understand designed paste line and equipment plans, detailed engineered prints, and layouts
