ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN - POWER STATION

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to Power Station Manager
CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This position is a senior, skilled position at New Luika Gold Mine responsible to the Power Station Manager. The incumbent Will be responsible for Acting as the Power Station Manager During shifts or rotation leave periods when the substantive Power Station Manager is not on the mine site, fault finding, Maintenance and repair of all electrical and control systems For the mine 800,000 litre Fuel Storage Facility, 7.5MW Heavy Fuel Oil Power Station, O.7MW Solar P\/ Power Plant and the 6.6k\/ power reticulation system, Support to subordinates in the Implementation of a computerized maintenance management System (CMMS) utilized to schedule and document preventative And planned maintenance activities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE
Electrical Technician will be accountable for the following:
- Oversee and/or undertake testing, inspection and diagnostic Activities on components, equipment, systems/and sub-systems
- Responsible for installation, trouble shooting and repair of Electrical and control systems for power generation plants (Minimum 5MWe), fuel systems and medium voltage distribution And switchgear systems, including demonstrated practical, Fault finding, operating and maintenance experience with the Following equipment/systems:
REQUIRED SKILLSKNOWLEDGE -
Education:
- Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineering Degree or Equivalent.
- Professional or Technician registration with a recognized Professional body
- Have a valid driver's ‘license
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years‘ experience as an engine technician (preferably medium to large diesel or Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) engines such as those found on marine vessels)
- Minimum of 3 years’ diesel plant fitting experience or mechanical Engineering experience
- Trained in HT switching training and cable joining
- Be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Must be proficient in electrical safe working procedures and Processes
- must have the ability to forecast performance of electrical Components and overall power system performance
- Be able read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills and be capable of identifying malfunctions and restoring electrical systems safely into operation with minimal downtime
- Experienced in managing a team of skilled and unskilled work force of 10 or more persons.
- Have good communicating skills
- Be able to work in a production team environment
- Suitable applicants must be proficient in both written and spoken English
