Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is inviting qualified Tanzanians to apply for the position of Continuous Improvement Officer. The successful candidates will report to the Maintenance Planner and will be responsible for driving operational efficiency initiatives across production and maintenance functions within the plant.

The role focuses on identifying inefficiencies, reducing waste, improving productivity, and supporting the implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices across the organization. The selected candidates will work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure sustainable operational improvements.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Leading and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across production lines
  • Identifying inefficiencies, waste, and cost-reduction opportunities within operations
  • Collecting and analyzing production data to identify trends and improvement areas
  • Developing evidence-based recommendations for operational improvements
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure sustained improvements
  • Training staff on Lean tools such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, and Kanban
  • Providing guidance on Six Sigma methodologies and practices
  • Developing clear work instructions and supporting implementation of process changes
  • Collaborating with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve efficiency
  • Ensuring safety and ergonomic compliance in all improvement initiatives
  • Building employee engagement and supporting adoption of change initiatives
  • Supporting signage, labeling, painting, and visual management systems in the workplace
  • Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Form Four (IV) certificate or NTA Level I qualification
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools
  • Ability to analyze production data and develop practical recommendations
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and change management skills

Experience needed

  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in continuous improvement roles
  • Experience in manufacturing, large-scale agricultural production, or similar industrial environments
