Mbeya Cement Company Limited is seeking a highly motivated Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) Engineer to join our team at the Mbeya Plant. This is a permanent employment position reporting directly to the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Manager.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Set up and manage condition monitoring systems (CM/PdM), including data collection, trending, and history maintenance.
  • Create inspection routes, monitor route compliance, and ensure effective use of inspection checklists by inspectors.
  • Perform first-level walk-by inspections, monitoring equipment on assigned routes and recording findings using checklists.
  • Collect vibration data by gauging plant equipment, taking readings, analyzing results, and documenting findings.
  • Analyze data from various tools (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic) to detect degradation and forecast potential failures.
  • Collaborate with IT to integrate monitoring tools with existing systems, scout for new technologies, provide staff training, and promote a reliability-focused culture.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of vibration analysis.
  • Skills in fan balancing and machine alignment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering drawings.
  • Competence in collecting and analyzing vibration data.
  • Capability to suggest and select improved tools for preventive and predictive maintenance.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in the clinker and cement manufacturing industry.
