Job Opportunity: Civil Engineer
Northern Engineering Works Limited (NEWL) is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join their Projects Department. The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of industry knowledge and the creativity to present innovative solutions that enhance efficiency while managing costs.
Job Overview
Job Title: Civil Engineer
Department: Projects
Reporting To: Chief Technology Officer
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Key Responsibilities
- Developing detailed designs and preparing/implementing project plans.
- Conducting feasibility assessments and site inspections.
- Researching and providing estimates for projects.
- Reviewing government regulations and ordinances.
- Monitoring and optimizing safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Confidently liaising with clients and professional subcontractors.
- Managing project budgets, resources, deadlines, and acquiring quotes.
Requirements & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field (accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers).
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of working experience and industry knowledge is strongly desired.
- Licensing: Must be registered/licensed as a Professional Engineer (ERB).
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with design software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation, as well as map creation and photo imaging software.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and the ability to coordinate more than one project at a time.
- Languages: Excellent command of both written and oral English and Swahili.
- Attributes: Great business acumen regarding cost-cutting and experience working with multinational companies.

- Must be a Citizen of Tanzania.
