JOB DETAILS:
Preferred Locations: Manila, Philippines; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Monrovia, CA. Position is to be located within a jurisdiction (country or U.S. State) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This is the highest Information Technology leadership role for World Vision. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) has complete ownership of the establishment and execution of the enterprise wide IT strategy, and ensures its alignment with Our Promise 2030 and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve business success. As a senior leader in World Vision, the CIO participates in and contributes to overall enterprise business strategy development, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of leveraging information and technology in business model design, business processes re-engineering, products and services development, and support for competitive advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy and Planning:

  • Sets Global IT strategy in conjunction with the senior leadership of World Vision.
  • Communicates IT vision and strategic direction.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership and business partners to define and execute the digital business strategy. Participates in and contributes to the assessment of external digital opportunities and threats, and internal technology capabilities required to achieve desired competitive positioning.
  • Maintains currency on new technologies and platforms and provides direction on what emerging technologies to be assimilated, integrated and introduced within the enterprise to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the enterprise's digital business strategy. Provides strategic direction in the IT organization's innovation efforts and role in experimenting with new solutions to take advantage of those opportunities in the fulfillment of the digital business strategy of the enterprise.
  • Drive the Global IT change effort, including the adoption of new technologies (e.g. cloud computing and digital ecosystems) and building critical IT capacity and capabilities of IT Plays a leadership role in the overall business technology planning processes (defined by IT Governance processes).
  • Ensures alignment between business needs and IT capabilities.
  • Understands emerging technology trends and potential WV impacts.
    Relationship / Resource Leadership:
  • Builds and manages relationships with all key IT stakeholders – “customers” (Local / Regional WV offices), Senior Leadership, local IT staff.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, and builds and maintains relationships with other C-level executives and business unit leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities. Uses influencing and negotiation skills to create synergies across the enterprise to enable cost-effective and innovative shared solutions in achievement of enterprise goals.
  • Plans and manages Global IT resources – leads a global organization.
  • Builds internal IT capabilities (skills, knowledge) with current resources and in anticipation of future service / technology demands.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to develop and motivate IT staff.
  • Pursues and develops strategic business alliances with both internal and external resources, when appropriate.

Operational Leadership:

  • Sponsors / oversees major IT implementation and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures business alignment on current business-driven, technology-related programs (e.g. Horizon, ProVision).
  • Ensures appropriate IT infrastructure and architecture to support ministry /business needs and service levels.
  • Manages development of / compliance to IT Polices and Standards.
  • Identifies and leverages IT best practices across the Partnership.
  •  Ensures effective IT financial planning and management – develops / owns operating plans and IT budget. Delivers business cases and key information to support the annual Global IT budget and key future IT investments.

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related fields, or equivalent experience required.
  • At least 5 years experience as CIO at two or more companies leading large, diverse IT organizations with global delivery models and 500+ employees.
  • At least 15 years of Information Technology experience. Possesses extensive knowledge of current IT technologies, solutions and emerging trends. Deep Christian spirituality and sense of calling to the ministry and has lived abroad and or traveled extensively, preferably in developing countries. Knowledge of foreign language(s) preferred.
  • Demonstrates an ability to think strategically and be a forward thinker. Thorough understanding of key business issues and emerging trends from within the ministry. Ability, drive and intellect to understand the impact of new technologies on the ministry / business.
  • Demonstrated ability to build an IT organization to meet new business and strategic challenges leveraging leading-edge digital technology.
  • Preferably proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments by taking advantage of digital opportunities to innovate business models and enable the digitalization of the business.
  • Experience in leading IT organizations under a federal governance model with large numbers of stakeholders.
  • Operates and manages well with global mindset in context of uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Skilled in influencing change in cross-cultural environments.
  • Ability to forge consensus at the senior management level (‘C suite’) and build collaborative relationships.
  • Team-oriented and process-oriented leadership style.
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of non-technical clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage IT assets and resources.
  • Ability to travel internationally at least 40%.
