Cashier job description

The Cashier & Operations Support role involves receiving payments, issuing receipts, and keeping track of all cash and credit transactions. The position is intended to ensure that all transactions run smoothly while maximizing customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Invoicing all customers.
  • Managing transactions with customers using cash registers.
  • Scanning goods and ensuring pricing is accurate.
  • Collecting payments whether in cash or credit.
  • Issuing receipts, refunds, change, or tickets.
  • Cross-selling products.
  • Resolving customer complaints, guiding customers, and providing relevant information.
  • Tracking transactions on balance sheets and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Handling merchandise returns and exchanges.
  • Preparing cash reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Performing any other assigned task.

Education and qualifications

Academic background

Applicants should have a Degree or Diploma in one of the following fields:

  • Business Administration
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Management
  • A closely related field

Technical and math skills

Applicants should have:

  • Strong basic mathematical capabilities.
  • Baseline accounting skills for reconciling balance sheets.
  • High comfort level with spreadsheets, including Excel and Google Sheets.

Applicants should demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Absolute integrity when handling financial figures.
  • A problem-solving mindset.
