Job profile:
The successful candidate will be responsible to manage all storage and mixing activity at the BMS Plant to ensure OTIFQ and safety, To ensure BMS fertilizer production is managed within budget and achieves cost synergies as well as Align resources and implement world class practices to optimize performance and ensure the plant realizes its full potential
Specific job responsibilities:
- Oversee operations and production planning (S&OP) to ensure efficiency, quality control, budgetary control, service, and cost-effective management of resources
- Ensure proper handling of raw material and final product (fertilizer and BMS)
- Operate the BMS Plant according to the set standards to deliver the required output
- Ensure product meets Nutrient standards and Organic matter requirements
- Implement preventive maintenance on machines and equipment as per maintenance standards
- Manage work quality to reduce rework and increase plant reliability
- Provide teams with necessary tools and equipment to perform work effectively
- Report on performance in line with KPIs including formulating requisite insights and making informed recommendations to the BMS Manager
- Ensure effective record-keeping of all relevant information including records of work orders, analysis of product and production
- Conduct on-the-job training and instruction, and identify new training needs where appropriate
- Support the development and control of the BMS plant operational budget.
- Monitor and report on BMS Plant and application performance.
- Align BMS performance to achieve business imperatives and goals and manage delivery against KPIs
- Together with the team, drive the planning of daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets against operational goals and customer requirements
- Identify loss/waste/barriers to flow areas and prioritise weekly activities to address these, to ensure that improvements are made
- Build and maintain or oversee relationships with customers, key stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers
- Oversee effective performance management by identifying KPIs to be tracked and monitor team performance or flag issues of concern
- Monitor and manage team and individual performance daily against minimum standards and targets
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (waste, odour, runoff), and occupational health and safety standards
- Adopt and embed agreed best practices, frameworks and minimum standards for all aspects of BMS plant operations and application.
- Promote and adhere to BU and Group procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to HSE, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Crop Nutrition / Agronomy / Soil Science / Agriculture or related field
- 3-5 years experience in sugar cane agronomy with 5 years in a leadership/management role
- Proven track record of effectively developing and implementing strategies through managing budgets, people and resources to meet business KPIs
- Excellent business acumen and agronomy expertise, with ability to anticipate and interpret changes impacting on functional area
- Experience in fertiliser business development or sales is preferred and an added advantage
