Role Purpose
The Assistant Lodge Manager will support the Lodge Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Olerai Lodge, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient staff management, and smooth operational standards. This role requires a strong background in hospitality management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to foster a welcoming environment aligned with the lodge’s high-end boutique standards.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Ensure the highest quality of personalized guest service in all departments.
- Address and resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain strong relationships with guests, ensuring repeat visits and positive reviews.
Operations & Administration
- Oversee daily lodge operations including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance.
- Support the Cluster Lodge Manager in implementing operational policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor lodge budgets, control costs, and optimize revenue opportunities.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Supervise, motivate, and train lodge staff to deliver exceptional service.
- Assist in staff recruitment, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Financial & Resource Management
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor daily expenses.
- Ensure proper inventory control and procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate records of lodge operations and reports for management.
Marketing & Guest Relations
- Support the marketing and sales team in promoting Olerai Lodge.
- Assist in organizing special events, packages, and activities to enhance guest experiences.
- Represent the lodge in professional and community engagements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism, or related field.
- 8 to 15 years of proven professional experience in a similar role within a reputable hotel, lodge, or resort.
- Previous experience in boutique properties will be considered a strong advantage.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Computer literacy (MS Office, reservation systems, and hospitality software).
- Knowledge of a foreign language (French, German, Italian, or Spanish) is an added advantage.
