Job Purpose:
To lead the workshop team in Mbeya in performing efficient maintenance, repair, and fabrication services for plant machinery, equipment, and vehicles to minimize downtime and support production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, assign, and supervise daily workshop activities (mechanical, fabrication, welding).
- Oversee the repair, overhaul, and preventive maintenance of production machines and mobile equipment.
- Manage workshop inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Ensure jobs are completed on time, to quality standards, and within budget.
- Enforce strict adherence to workshop safety rules and procedures (LOTO, PPE).
- Train and mentor workshop technicians and apprentices.
- Prepare work schedules, maintenance reports, and downtime analysis.
- Liaise with production and procurement departments to plan and prioritize work.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of workshop experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong practical skills in machining, welding, fitting, and assembly.

- Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills.
- Planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
