About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Telematics Engineer to join its Technical Operations team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining vehicle tracking and telematics solutions across a wide range of vehicles. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Teltonika telematics devices, fuel monitoring systems, and LV-CAN integrations, ensuring reliable fleet monitoring and high-quality technical service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Telematics Installation & Configuration

  • Install, configure, test, and commission vehicle tracking and telematics devices.
  • Work with Teltonika devices including FMB130, FMB125, FMB140, FMC130, FMC003, FMC650, and FMC920.
  • Configure devices according to customer and project requirements.
  • Perform device replacements, relocations, and re-installations.
  • Verify proper communication between installed devices and the fleet management platform.

Fuel Monitoring Systems

  • Install and configure fuel level sensors.
  • Calibrate and test fuel monitoring systems.
  • Troubleshoot inaccurate fuel readings, sensor faults, and communication issues.
  • Ensure seamless integration between fuel sensors and telematics devices.

LV-CAN Installation

  • Install and configure LV-CAN interfaces for vehicle data acquisition.
  • Integrate telematics devices with vehicle CAN networks.
  • Capture and validate vehicle parameters including fuel level, mileage, engine information, and other CAN data.
  • Diagnose and resolve CAN communication and wiring issues.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support

  • Diagnose and resolve telematics hardware, GPS, GSM, power supply, ignition, wiring, and communication issues.
  • Investigate vehicles that are offline or transmitting inaccurate data.
  • Perform technical health checks on installed devices and accessories.
  • Collaborate with Technical Support and Customer Success teams to resolve escalated issues.

Installation Quality Assurance

  • Conduct vehicle inspections before and after installations.
  • Ensure all wiring, connectors, sensors, and devices are securely installed.
  • Identify installation risks and recommend corrective actions.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.
  • Document device serial numbers, vehicle information, and technical observations.
  • Prepare daily and periodic engineering reports.

Field Support

  • Provide on-site technical support during customer deployments.
  • Work closely with fleet managers, drivers, and customers.
  • Deliver technical demonstrations, onboarding, and user support where required.
  • Represent the company professionally during field assignments.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in telematics, fleet management, vehicle tracking, automotive electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience installing and troubleshooting vehicle tracking systems.
  • Practical experience with fuel sensor installation and calibration.
  • Hands-on experience with LV-CAN installation and vehicle data integration.
  • Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Willingness to travel for field assignments.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in one of the following:
    • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Automotive Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Or a related technical discipline
  • Relevant professional certifications and practical industry experience are an added advantage.
