One of Caterpillar’s most reputable dealer groups is seeking technical engineering specialists to join their expanding team. Due to an outstanding reputation in the market, recent business wins for the supply and maintenance of Caterpillar Mining Equipment has created requirement for growth in their technical team.
This role is viewed as being the “product expert” for very specific Caterpillar machinery, and this role has been actioned for the successful individual to assist the onsite engineering team with the repair and maintenance of the equipment as well as developing their technical skills and knowledge.

What will you be doing?

Maintenance

• Developing best practice methods for the maintenance of underground equipment
  
• Providing technical assistance on the underground equipment onsite, via telephone or via email
  
• Hands on technical training of maintenance methods for the local engineering team
  
• Assessing major repair and rebuild works, developing plans to maintain the equipment within budget Machine Delivery & Assembly
  
• Liaising with; sales department about specifications including sourcing of additional items required to meet customer orders
  
• Managing local contractors to ensure assembly of equipment is on time and to the standard of Caterpillar expectations
  
• From time to time customer staff will assist in assembly; they will require guidance and mentoring on the whole assembly process
  Site Management
  
• Managing the site equipment warranty process, ensuring claims are handled affectively and properly
  
• Identifying and implementing staff training requirements
  
• Regularly monitor site to ensure Caterpillar standards are met and adhered to Managing KPI’s, ensuring KPI targets are met by each engineer
  
• Maintaining a positive relationship with the customer at all times
  Technical
  
• Providing all round technical support on the R2900, R1700, AD55 and the AD40 Caterpillar equipment
  
• Ensuring all standards are met for product, site and staff
  
• Constantly assessing health and safety regulations, implementing new procedures where required
  
• Managing the document process – keeping on file a record of work, activity and actions carried out on site
  

What do we need from you?

• A good amount of experience maintaining and repairing Caterpillar Underground Machinery
  
• Working knowledge with some of the following – R2900, R1700, AD55 or the AD40,
  
• Evidence of attending Caterpillar product training courses
  
• A natural and committed focus for health and safety regulations
  What would be an added value?
  
• Underground mining work experience in Africa
  
• Full working knowledge of all 4 machines: R2900, R1700, AD55 and the AD40
  Steady experience as a supervisor/manager for Caterpillar machinery
