Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tax Supervisor to join our team in Dar es salaam. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance, providing a range of tax advisory services, and ensuring that clients meet their regulatory obligations. This role requires strong technical expertise in Tanzanian tax laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with clients and regulatory authorities
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate tax returns on behalf of clients before statutory deadlines.
- Conduct tax health checks to assess and improve clients’ tax compliance and efficiency.
- Liaise with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regarding tax queries, assessments, and findings.
- Develop and implement effective tax strategies aligned with client business objectives.
- Carry out detailed computations for Income Tax, Deferred Tax, and Repatriation Tax (for foreign branches).
- Support internal and external auditors during reviews and statutory audits, ensuring cooperation and compliance.
- Stay up to date with tax legislation and provide clients with regular compliance and advisory updates.
- Manage and reconcile PAYE, SDL, NSSF, WCF, Excise, Withholding Tax, and VAT obligations.
- Prepare and present tax reports, insights, and updates for clients.
- Examine financial accounts and supporting documentation for tax implications.
- Handle complex tax matters including tax objections, appeals, insolvency, and mergers.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional tax qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in taxation.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws (Income Tax Act, VAT Act, Tax Administration Act, etc.).
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Proven ability to work independently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
- A collaborative team player with the confidence to handle challenges effectively
- Curious, proactive, and capable of recognizing areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
