Job Description

To support the design, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of financial crime controls across the Bank.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing customer monitoring processes.
  • Assess customer profiles, expected account activity, source of funds and, where appropriate, source of wealth.
  • Support the identification and escalation of unusual or potentially suspicious customer activity.
  • Review transaction monitoring alerts and support investigations where required.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of suspicious transaction/activity reports in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Monitor high-risk customers, jurisdictions, products, and transactions.

Sanctions and Screening

  • Review and investigate potential screening matches and ensure appropriate escalation and disposition.
  • Assist in maintaining effective controls for sanctions compliance and screening-related risks.

Transaction Monitoring and Investigations

  • Review transaction-monitoring alerts and investigate unusual or potentially suspicious activity.
  • Identify potential money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing and other financial crime typologies.
  • Investigate suspected suspicious transactions and activities; and escalate material or suspicious activity/transactions in accordance with the Bank's established procedures.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and recommendations.

Financial Crime Risk Assessment

  • Support enterprise and business-level ML/TF/PF risk assessments.
  • Assess risks associated with customers, products, services, delivery channels and geographic locations.
  • Identify emerging financial crime risks and typologies.

Policies, Procedures and Governance

  • Contribute to the development and periodic review of AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud, and other financial crime policies and procedures.
  • Ensure procedures remain consistent with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide accurate management information on transaction monitoring, investigations, control testing and remediation.
  • Support financial crime governance committees and prepare relevant reports and presentations.

Training and Awareness

  • Support AML/CFT/CPF and financial crime awareness programmes.
  • Assist in identifying staff training needs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorism Financing, Counter Proliferation Financing, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Sanctions screening rules and regulations is essential.
  • Good understanding and appreciation of financial crime risk management practices.
  • Expert knowledge of AML transaction monitoring systems, analytical and investigative processes and reporting requirements.
  • AML & Financial Crime Knowledge
  • Sanction and watchlist screening
  • Investigation and Analytical Skills
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge
  • Strong communication skills

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science or related field
  • Professional certification in AML, Financial Crime, Compliance, Sanctions Control e.g. CAMS, CFCS, CGSS, CFE will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in banking, financial services, AML/CFT, compliance or financial crime investigations.
