Padre Pio College of Health and Allied Sciences is seeking to fill 2 posts for the position of Social Worker. This role is crucial for providing professional social work services to individuals, families, and communities.

Responsibilities or duties

The Social Worker will be responsible for conducting psychosocial assessments, providing counseling, identifying and supporting vulnerable persons, making home visits, liaising with stakeholders, maintaining case files, advocating for clients, facilitating community sensitization programs, and preparing activity reports.

Qualifications or requirements 

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Administration, Community Development, or a related field. Essential skills include strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathy, emotional resilience, knowledge of child protection laws and social welfare policies, report writing, record-keeping, and the ability to work under minimal supervision. Registration with the relevant National Social Workers Association is an added advantage.

Experience needed

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role is required.

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop intervention plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services.
  • Identify, register, and support vulnerable persons, including orphans, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and survivors of abuse.
  • Make home visits and follow-ups to monitor client progress and home environments.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders (schools, police, health facilities, NGOs) to coordinate care and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case files and reports.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of marginalized clients within the community.
  • Facilitate community sensitization programs on child protection, gender-based violence, and health.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports for the supervisor.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy and emotional resilience.
  • Knowledge of child protection laws and social welfare policies.
  • Report writing and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Administration, Community Development, or related field.
