POWER SYSTEMS | TANGA

This role involves overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operational compliance of mechanical systems, particularly focusing on power generation. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all work adheres to SHEQ/SOPs and standards, driving reliability improvements through root cause analysis, and analyzing performance data.

Responsibilities

  • The primary duties include overseeing generator/mechanical systems maintenance, repair & service, ensuring work is carried out in compliance with SHEQ/SOPs & standards.
  • Additionally, the role requires driving reliability improvement through Root Cause Analysis & failure prevention strategies, analyzing performance data & providing condition monitoring inputs to the CMA, controlling load distribution & optimization, monitoring alarms & system malfunction, diagnosing & resolving faults, and monitoring the generator SMU & communicating preventive maintenance requirements.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power/Energy Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in large generators or power generation with continuous 24/7 operations environments is required; Caterpillar experience is preferred.
  • Essential skills include excellent knowledge of large generator systems operations & maintenance, excellent leadership & decision-making abilities, excellent interpersonal & communication skills, and good computer skills, including MS Office package.
  • Oversee generator /mechanical systems maintenance, repair & service, ensuring work is carried out in compliance with SHEQ/SOPs & standards
  • Drive reliability improvement through Root Cause Analysis & failure prevention strategies
  • Analyze performance data & provide condition monitoring inputs to the CMA.
  • Control load distribution & optimization
  • Monitor alarms & system malfunction, diagnose & resolve faults
  • Monitor the generator SMU & communicate preventive maintenance requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of large generator systems operations & maintenance skills
  • Excellent leadership & decision-making
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Good computer skills, incl. Ms Office package
