Power Systems Engineer

Location: Tanga

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee generator and electrical maintenance, repairs, and servicing, ensuring all work complies with SHEQ requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company standards.
  • Drive equipment reliability improvements through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and failure prevention strategies.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and provide condition monitoring inputs to the Condition Monitoring Analyst (CMA).
  • Monitor and optimize load distribution to ensure efficient power system performance.
  • Monitor system alarms and equipment malfunctions, diagnose faults, and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor generator Service Meter Units (SMU) and communicate preventive maintenance requirements to the maintenance team.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience working with large generators or power generation systems in continuous 24/7 operational environments.
  • Experience working with Caterpillar generator systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of large generator operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant computer systems.
  • Oversee generator/electrical maintenance, repair & service, ensuring work is carried out in compliance with SHEQ/SOPs & standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office package.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power/Energy Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in large generators or power generation with continuous 24/7 operations environments; Caterpillar experience preferred.
