Background

Fema Mining and Drilling Limited is a mining and drilling services company operating in Tanzania’s extractive industry. The company provides operational support in mining production, including dewatering, drilling, and related technical services. As part of its mining operations in Geita, the company is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced personnel for the position of Service Man – Dewatering (12 Positions).

The Service Man – Dewatering will support pit dewatering operations by assisting in the installation, maintenance, and operation of pumps, pipelines, and water management systems. The role is essential in ensuring continuous mining operations and maintaining safe pit conditions, particularly during rainy seasons and high-water inflow periods.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the installation, relocation, and maintenance of pumps and pipeline systems within mining pits.
  • Monitoring pit water levels and ensuring proper functioning of pumping systems.
  • Inspecting hoses, valves, generators, and other dewatering equipment for operational integrity.
  • Reporting mechanical faults, breakdowns, and operational issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Supporting fueling, lubrication, and routine servicing of pumps and associated equipment.
  • Maintaining effective pit drainage systems to ensure safe and continuous mining operations.
  • Supporting continuous pumping operations during wet weather and peak production periods.
  • Adhering strictly to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and mining safety standards.
  • Wearing and properly using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintaining clean and safe working environments within mining operational areas.
  • Participating in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and on-the-job training sessions.
  • Maintaining accurate daily operational and maintenance records.
  • Collaborating with operators, mechanics, and mining teams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualification and Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of Form Four (O-Level) education.
  • Technical training or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Pump Operations, Mining Operations, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in mining operations, dewatering systems, pump servicing, or similar technical environments.
  • Experience in open-pit mining operations will be considered an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of pumps, generators, pipelines, and water management systems.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding and remote mining environments.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual duties safely.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Kiswahili; basic English skills will be an added advantage.
