Background

Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is inviting qualified and experienced Tanzanians to apply for the position of Senior Rigger – Mill House. The successful candidate will report to the Mechanical Technician – Mills and will support rigging operations, lifting activities, and safe handling of heavy industrial equipment within the mill house section.

The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring proper alignment, levelling, and anchoring of machinery and equipment during installation and maintenance activities. The role also involves supporting safe lifting operations, inspecting rigging equipment, assessing operational risks, and ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards and company procedures.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensuring machinery and equipment are aligned, levelled, and securely anchored
• Selecting suitable pulleys, booms, braces, and cables for different lifting operations
• Assessing risks associated with lifting and moving heavy equipment through confined spaces
• Cleaning, dismantling, and storing rigging equipment after completion of work
• Ensuring safety procedures comply with company policies and legal requirements
• Inspecting and preparing roads for transportation of heavy loads
• Observing load limits and estimating safe lifting capacities of equipment and materials
• Reporting operational challenges and safety concerns to the supervisor
• Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and requirements:

• Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting and Machining, or related field from a recognized institution
• Professional certifications such as Certified Engineering Technician (CET) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt will be an added advantage
• Minimum of six (6) years working experience in rigging or fitter mechanics roles
• Experience in manufacturing or processing industries, preferably within the sugar industry
• Good understanding of lifting equipment, rigging systems, and industrial safety procedures
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in industrial environments and under pressure
