Position Description
The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit Senior Planner (Long Term Planning) to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Create and optimize life-of-mine (LOM) designs, stope layouts, and schedules (multi-year).
- Resource & Reserve Management: Manage long-range production shapes, update reserve estimates, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Economic & Risk Analysis: Develop cost models, analyze data, identify cost-reduction/productivity opportunities, and assess long-term risks (geological, logistical, financial).
- Coordination: Integrate capital projects/infrastructure, work with geologists/engineers/operations, and ensure plans align with corporate goals.
- Leadership: Mentor junior planners/engineers and supervise technician teams.
- Compliance: Ensure plans meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Qualification requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related minerals-related discipline from a recognized institution is essential.
Experience and Competencies needed
- Extensive 8 years in mine planning, modeling, and operations
- Proven experience in developing, optimizing, and maintaining long-term (3-10 years) and life-of-mine plans is crucial.
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Minemax, GEOVIA)
- Valid Tanzanian driving license
- Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness
- Consistent demonstration of Barrick Core Values
- Strong conceptual thinking ability
